  • [KOBAYASHI NEWS] Morre CARLOS EZQUERRA - Co-autor de JUIZ DREDD

    La carrera de Carlos Ezquerra, el dibujante zaragozano cuyo fallecimiento a los 70 años se ha hecho público hoy, estuvo marcada por dos factores. El primero, esa precariedad en el mundo del cómic español que le obligó, como a tantos otros artistas, a trabajar a destajo para agencias y editoriales de Reino Unido. El segundo, el encargo que le llegó en 1976 por parte de dos viejos conocidos (el editor Patt Mills y el guionista John Wagner) de diseñar la apariencia de cierto personaje que ambos habían ideado: un policía con malas pulgas al servicio de un estado distópico, postapocalíptico y totalitario. Dicho individuo era, claro está, el Juez Dredd, y su uniforme (en el que Ezquerra introdujo un nada sutil guiño al ‘aguilucho’ que presidía la bandera española durante el franquismo) acabó convirtiéndose en uno de los mayores iconos de la revista 2000 AD, lo que equivale a decir “del cómic británico”. Y también, ya que estamos, del cine de acción.

    Aunque Juez Dredd (Danny Cannon, 1995) no le hizo justicia alguna al personaje pese al amor que le profesaba Sylvester Stallone, Dredd (Pete Travis, 2012) sí que estuvo a la altura de la creación de Ezquerra, Mills y Wagner… a costa de convertirse en un enorme fracaso de taquilla. El legado del artista en el cine abarca también Search/Destroy: A Strontium Dog Fan Film, película amateur de 2016 en la que Ezquerra colaboró para poner en movimiento a otro de sus personajes emblemáticos de 2000AD: el brutísimo cazarrecompensas mutante Johnny Alpha, alias ‘Perro de Estroncio’.     Grande perda.

    Ele teve um quadrinho com o Garth Ennis chamado Just a Pilgrim. Foi lançado por aqui, se não me engano, pela Mythos, acho que Um Peregrino.

    Seria bom que a Pipoca & Nanquim trouxesse outras coisas do Ezquerra.
    Artista de primeira.

          Aliás, descobri agora que Kev também é uma parceria do Ezquerra com o Ennis.
          Kev foi publicado por aqui como estórias secundárias nas revistas de Authority. Era muito bom.

                    Grande perda. Era amigão do Garth Ennis, fez vários trabalhos com ele: as duas minisséries da Bloody Mary e da Brigada Rifle, mais duas de Battlefields e até uns especiais de Preacher e Hitman.
