      • ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Presales Estimated At $120M+; $300M Domestic Opening In Play

According to Deadline sources, before Avengers: Endgame flickers even one image on a movie screen ahead of its Thursday night previews nationwide, advance domestic ticket sales for the Russo Brothers-directed Marvel sequel are estimated to be north of $120 million, with some figuring they’re as high as $140M. These figures do not come from Disney.

Again, it’s not clear if all of those presales are designated for this weekend at the box office, but the projection makes sense: Avengers: Endgame shattered the first 24-hour advance tickets sales record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Fandangofour years ago and other exhibitor ticketing outlets. Prior to that pic’s once-historic opening domestic weekend of $247.9M, Force Awakens’ presales were estimated to be north of $100M.

We hear that the big three chains — AMC, Regal and Cinemark — currently are driving 75% of Endgame‘s presales.

Fandango reported this month that it sold out thousands of Endgame showtimes on its website and that theater owners were scrambling to post new showtimes and screens to meet fan demand (some as early as 4 AM and 6:30 AM for its opening day Friday). In its first seven days of presales on Fandango, Endgame sold five times as many tickets as last year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

                • Os analistas de bilheteria estão projetando números colossais pra 'Ultimato':
‘Avengers: Endgame’: Is A $1B Global Opening Even Possible? If So, Here’s How It Would Go Down – B.O. Preview

China, midnight Tuesday. That’s when Avengers: Endgame begins to rumble around the world, box office wise.

The film industry waits with bated breath for what should be a colossal opening. In some distribution hallways around town, people are talking a $300M domestic opening and a –gasp– $1 billion worldwide start. Mind-boggling. Even if the Anthony and Joe Russo-directed sequel misses that mark, some forecast that Endgame could make $1.5 billion through its first 10 days. With the exception of Russia, which releases on Monday April 29, Endgame will go out everywhere day-and-date internationally beginning Wednesday. U.S./Canada starts off at 6 PM on Thursday.

If Endgame is going to hit a $1 billion global weekend opening, what would need to happen as we understand is that China or the U.S. (or both) would need to overperform. $300M-plus apiece would be amazing, but should the U.S. hit $270M (and no less) and China overindexes to $310M, then a billion-dollar reach from Thanos and the Avengers by Sunday is possible. Grounded projections for China are in the range of $250M-$280M-plus.

Currently, Deadline International Editor Nancy Tartaglione and I are hearing that $940M-$950M global is more in line with cooler heads’ global prognostications. Broken out, that’s $680M abroad — which would rep an international box office record, dusting 2017’s The Fate of the Furious, which bowed everywhere save Japan in mid-April that year, to $433.2M, unadjusted — and $260M-$270M in U.S./Canada, also an all-time record. Disney reports that Endgame will play on an industry-record 4,600 theaters coast to coast in U.S./Canada with screenings kicking off at 6 PM Thursday. Disney will have the full exhibition might of 3,900 3D venues, 250 D-Boxes, Dolby, 410 Imax and 785 PLFs, which is de rigueur for a Marvel movie.

Record presales are in full swing in the U.S./Canada, estimated to be north of $120M+, and even around the world: In India, online retailer BookMyShow reports that it sold a million tickets in just one day in advance of the pic’s April 26 opening in the country in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. That translated to 18 tickets sold a second.

Endgame presales in China broke records in a matter of hours and became the Middle Kingdom’s top preseller ever; not even a Chinese New Year title has crossed the 1M admission level that the Marvel film did in a matter of three hours. China presales hardly have slowed, with $80M now in the bank and $90M-plus expected. The midnight presales likely will come in around the $20M mark, topping all previous titles – including Furious 8’s $9.1M and Infinity War’s $8.9M midnights (at historic rates). We hear that initial showtimes for Endgame in metropolitan areas of China are going for anywhere between $60 to $150 a ticket.

In regard to the rest of the world selling out on Endgame, the Imax BFI in London, for example, has only a handful of seats left in the 4 AM and 8 AM slots over the first weekend. (Globally, Endgame, which was shot entirely with Imax cameras, will be on 1,400 screens in the format.) According to Applaudience, at least 175 midnight shows throughout the UK were sold out by local time this afternoon for Wednesday night, with hundreds more going fast. In Singapore, online ticketing platforms crashed when seats became available, and we hear advance bookings could set a record in India also.

Infinity War’s overseas opening last year was $360M at today’s rates and without China. Factor in the Middle Kingdom’s $190M adjusted, and that rises to $550M. The movie finaled at $1.37B overseas and $2.05B worldwide at unadjusted rates. It was the fastest movie ever to $1B worldwide, the fourth movie to cross $2B and is the No. 3 film of all time at the international box office behind Avatar and Titanic. Infinity War’s ultimate top offshore markets were China ($360M), the UK ($96.6M), Korea ($88.5M), Brazil ($66.7M) and Mexico ($60M), all at unadjusted rates.

If we comp Infinity War’s China presales of $65M to the rest of its opening weekend, they repped about 35% — which would point to around $300M for Endgame’s bow. But this is a tricky comp since it can’t be assumed that the advance ticket buyers on Endgame didn’t also see Infinity War during the first weekend, just without pre-buying.

                            • ‘Avengers: Endgame’ China Midnights Rocket To Record $27M – International Box Office

China is at the endgame now as Avengers: Endgame is ready to rumble with midnight screenings just kicking off. The estimated presale total is a record-shattering $26.8M (RMB 180M). Showings at 3AM and 6AM are also included in the midnights tally which should see a slight increase once the dust settles. The start tonight local time tops all previous titles — including The Fate Of The Furious‘ $9.1M and Infinity War’s $8.9M midnights, both at unadjusted rates.

Overall China presales on Disney/Marvel’s massively anticipated Endgame are at an estimated $114.5M (RMB 770M) after blasting off to unprecedented levels on April 12. This is nearly double Infinity War‘s $65M and is also far and away a new record. Infinity War’s Middle Kingdom presales repped about 35% of its opening weekend. If we comp that to the advance bookings on Endgame, it points to a $325M opening frame for this 22nd MCU entry. But as we noted yesterday, this is a tricky comp since it can’t be assumed that the advance ticket buyers on Endgame didn’t also see Infinity War during its first weekend, just without pre-buying.

Grounded projections for China’s five-day opening (which includes a Sunday workday and only one day where work and school are not a factor) have been in the range of $250M-$280M. As of this evening, however, even some of the cooler heads are revising upwards within that bracket. We will have a much better indication of which way the Middle Kingdom is swinging once we get a look at the full Wednesday play tomorrow.

Also important will be the Moayan, Tiao Piao Piao and Douban scores which won’t be out until credits roll on the first screenings tonight locally.

An overall $680M bow at the international box office this weekend is what our sources have been estimating, with global prognostications in the $940M-$950M range. As my colleague Anthony D’Alessandro and I reported yesterday, if Endgameis going to hit an historic $1B worldwide weekend opening, what would need to happen as we understand is that China or the U.S. (or both) would need to overperform.

Avengers Endgame makes history in India, sells 1 million advance tickets with up to 18 tickets going per second

Marvel fans are finding themselves in a virtual queue to grab tickets for the highly anticipated superhero film Avengers: Endgame. BookMyShow has witnessed a record advance ticket sale with one million tickets sold in just over a day.

BookMyShow witnessed a peak of 18 tickets per second, even before the film releases in cinemas on April 26 in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Ashish Saksena, Chief Operating Officer - Cinemas, BookMyShow, said in a statement issued on Monday evening: “We expect Avengers: Endgame to break more records as cinemas continue to open the advance bookings.”

Avengers: Endgame is the 22nd film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the latest after Captain Marvel, which released last month. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Brie Larson, amongst others.

“Avengers: Endgame is not just a movie, it’s an epic culmination of a decade-long journey which the fans have taken with us across 22 films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The phenomenal interest shown by audiences across the country, is testament of how this is one of the most anticipated movies for the fans and we can’t wait for them to watch it,” said Bikram Duggal, Head - Studio Entertainment, Disney India.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Monday: “Avengers: Endgame advance booking is unheard of, unimaginable and unprecedented. Much better than several Hindi biggies that opened in 2018 and 2019.”

                              "Spyder! Spyder! burning bright
